The King held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

The King, Freeman, the Worshipful Company of Drapers, accompanied by The Queen, this afternoon received Mr. Thomas Harris (Master) at Buckingham Palace when His Majesty unveiled a portrait which had been commissioned by the Worshipful Company.

The King, Colonel-in-Chief, Army Air Corps, this morning visited the Army Aviation Centre, Middle Wallop, Stockbridge, Hampshire, upon His Majesty retiring as Colonel-in-Chief, and was received by the Colonel Commandant (Lieutenant General Sir Nicholas Borton).

The King was received with a Royal Salute.

His Majesty, escorted by the Colonel Commandant, Colonel Edward Butterworth (Corps Colonel) and Warrant Officer Class One Philip Docherty (Corps Sergeant Major), visited the Army Flying Museum and met representatives of the Corps, veterans, families and members of museum staff.

The King proceeded on foot across the airfield to the Control Tower and met serving members of aircrew.

The Prince of Wales was present upon His Royal Highness's appointment as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps.

The King, Colonel-in-Chief, Corps of Royal Engineers, this morning visited 3 Royal School of Military Engineering at Gibraltar Barracks, Minley, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr. Nigel Atkinson) and the Commanding Officer (Lieutenant Colonel Robert Grant).

His Majesty was received with a Royal Salute from the Quarter Guard.

The King visited Engineering Personnel and their families in the Officers' Mess and subsequently met Officers from 8 Engineer Brigade Headquarters.

The Queen, Patron, Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, this morning visited the Royal London Hospital, Stepney Way, London E1, to mark International Nurses Day and was received by Mr. Leslie Morgan (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Majesty, President, this afternoon held a Reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the Ninetieth Anniversary of the Brooke Hospital for Animals.

Major General James Bowder (General Officer Commanding London District) was received by The King this afternoon.

Lieutenant General Sir Robert Fulton was received by The King and delivered up to His Majesty the Rod, Badge and Chain of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as King of Arms of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Lieutenant General Sir Simon Mayall was received by The King when His Majesty handed to him the Rod, Badge and Chain of Office upon his appointment as King of Arms of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The King and Queen gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were present.

His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

The British Army Band Tidworth and the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Queen, Patron, National Literacy Trust, this afternoon visited Moreland Primary School, Moreland Street, London EC1, to celebrate the Trust's Libraries for Primaries Programme and, having been received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa), opened the School's Coronation Library.

By command of The King, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Hoang Long Nguyen at 12-14 Victoria Road, London W8, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Court of St. James's.

Their Majesties, escorted by the Chairman and Mr. David Probert (Chief Executive, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), toured the Centre, viewing equipment and meeting patients and their families, clinicians and nursing staff, and charity representatives.
